"just in time for the holidays, Paris Hilton has just released her newest frangrance called Siren. She has a whole collection of her own signature fragrances now, and this one is only the latest. I have my doubts that it's the last in the collection. She's quite the entrpreneur.

Here are some photos of her in a very sexy Santa outfit when she appeared to promote Siren at the Glendale Galleria on Thursday. She looked "hot" don't you think?"

Queen Latifah launches new fragrance

good morning bloggers!
its thanksgiving week. my all time favorite holiday. endless amounts of eating not to mention the pumpkin pie and stuffing yum! anyways browsing the google news as usual i found this article on queen latifah's new fragrance line.

Being a multi-talented celeb means big business. A clothing line, a new fragrance, a jewelry and so on. And the list of celebs launching new lines keeps growing and growing.

Queen Latifah was in Houston last week at the new Macy’s at Almeda Mall to make her first national appearance to promote her new fragrance, Queen. (Like it would be called anything else.) About 100 plus fans waited patiently in line to meet the Queen.

The fragrance actually is light, slightly sweet and wearable. Queen Latifah said she smelled about 50 different fragrances, many of them “a little too mature or a little too sweet” before picking the winner.

THE SCENT OF A DEAD CELEB?

soo..
i was on google and i found this article that caught my attention.. i'll post it after this.. basically it was called " scent of a dead celeb" and it had a picture of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis. FYI i love Marilyn Monroe so of course i opened it and what i found was they they were in talks to make a perfume from her DNA.. or based on it.. freaky. if you ask me. i"ll post it now.

A venture that uses the DNA from Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson and other dead celebrities to mix up personality-driven fragrances is getting more than a whiff of publicity - but if you're expecting a touch of "Marilyn" to make you smell like the real Marilyn, you have no nose for science.

MyDNAFragrance's "Antiquity" line of perfumery appears to be the latest marketing gimmick driven by genetics, along the lines of DNA art, protein-coded music and (heh, heh) celebrity DNA samples.

The venture does use the celebrities' DNA code, after a fashion, and it does translate that code into a customized scent recipe - so there's certainly no false advertising. But the DNA that's used has absolutely no bearing on what a person smells like, and the DNA itself is not featured in the recipe.

In fact, in some cases, you probably wouldn't want to smell like the celebrity anyway. "I did a little research on Elvis, and he actually had really bad body odor," Diva Verdun, MyDNAFragrance's chief development officer, was quoted as saying in the New York Daily News.

Verdun makes clear that the recipes are secret formulas based on the genetic coding for mitochondrial DNA, or mtDNA, which exists outside the nucleus of every cell and is passed down genetically only from the mother's side. There are a limited number of variations in mtDNA, and millions of people share the same variation. So if the fragrance called "Blue Suede" is based on Elvis Presley's genetic code, it could also be based on the code for Elvis Weisenheimer who lives down at the end of the street.

The same goes for "Marilyn" as well as "iQ" (inspired by Albert Einstein), "Entrance" (Joan Crawford), "Monarch" (Katharine Hepburn) and "M" (Michael Jackson). Scientifically speaking, the fragrance has as much in common with these celebrities as a coat of arms.

MyDNAFragrance can do the same thing with your own DNA, as NBC's TODAY Show pointed out last year.

One of the most interesting parts of the process has to do with the source of the celebrity DNA. It turns out that the analysis was done on historical hair samples held by the University Archives' John Reznikoff, who also deals in collectible documents. Reznikoff is said to have the world's largest collection of celebrity hair - including clippings from Abraham Lincoln, Napoleon and moonwalker Neil Armstrong.

Reznikoff hasn't yet sampled the "Antiquity" scents, but from what he understands, the fragrances are meant to reflect the olfactory essence of the person providing the DNA sample.

"It's very far from an astrology reading," he told me today. "It's very scientific. The point is to use the DNA profile and evoke the essence of a long-gone hero - sometimes not so long-gone, as in the case of Michael Jackson."

Reznikoff has hair samples from about 160 notable figures, but for now, MyDNAFragrance has had genetic profiles done for only a half-dozen bits of celebrity hair.

You can't do a full-blown DNA test on shafts of hair - for that, you'd need the follicle or some other bits of skin surrounding the shaft. But you can analyze the mtDNA, as explained in this forensic primer. Sometimes a body sample is so degraded that the mtDNA test is as good as it gets - and in some cases, that's good enough. Such tests helped investigators solve the case of the Russian royal family's murder, 90 years after the deed was done.

So even though "Marilyn" may not make you smell like Marilyn Monroe, the flap over the fragrance can help you learn a little bit about how DNA analysis is done. And if you really do want to smell like Marilyn, there's an easy solution: Chanel No. 5, Monroe's favorite perfume. (When asked what she wore to bed, Monroe reportedly answered, "Five drops of Chanel No. 5.")

Reese Witherspoon and Avon introduce new perfume In Bloom in NYC

Yesterday, on October 28, Reese Witherspoon and Avon celebrated the launch of her new perfume in New York City. Witherspoon greeted fans and gave away autographed bottles of her fragrance In Bloom.

The Southern-born star was very involved in the creation of the scent. "In developing In Bloom, I found myself drawn to the scents of my childhood in Tennessee," explains Witherspoon. "We had a great big Magnolia tree in the backyard and it's that beautiful white blossom that inspired the perfume. In Bloom is indicative of where I am in my life today. I'm feeling very strong and independent, and so happy, so full of life."

Inside the bottle are notes of Georgia peach tea leaves, magnolias, jasmine, amber wood crystals and more, that blend together in a beautiful floral, oriental, woody scent. With one spritz of the fragrance you'll get that sensual, romantic and alluring feeling she was going for, and hopefully you'll feel a little of that Witherspoon empowerment, too.

Many of us all know the brand Estee Lauder, but who actually is Estee Lauder? Yes, she is a real person just like Louis Vutton and Coco Chanel. She has made such beautiful trademarks for herself. Estee Lauder is one of the most recognized perfumerers. Throughout her life, she was heavily involved in every part of her company's operation. She loved the work, and this was evident in every bottle of fragrance. Estee Lauder continued to add to its luxurious fragrances. "In 1995 The Pleasures range was launched. The range was expanded to include Pleasure Delight, Pleasures Intense and Pleasures Exotic. In 2005, actress Gwyneth Paltrow became the face of the range." It is purely floral and is sweet fusion of lilies, peonies, jasmine and karo-karounde and baie rose. You guys should check out her stuff at the local department stores! <3

Harajuku Lovers: Limited Edition

I'm not quite sure how this limited this limited edition is, but I really want to get my hands on it before it runs out! ASAP! I think the bottles are ultimately the cutest things on earth! haha It's so ..harajuku! I remember when they were a hit back in the day and then they kind of faded! The cold and chilly days of winter won’t last forever (thank goodness!) and neither do these super kawaii dolls! They will be around for a limited time only! Love is the quintessential snow bunny! Buttoned up in bows and frills, Love hits the snowy streets of Harajuku in shades of pink that match her cold rosy cheeks. Her hair is done up in bobby pins inspired by the Decora Girls in Tokyo while sporting a candy-sweet coral pink peacoat with oversized pearl buttons.

"A warm and wooly houndstooth scarf and baby pink gloves keep her warm when her love is not nearby. Her sweet pleated miniskirt dons appliquéd bows while white tights keep the chill away. Baby pink mid-calf Velcro closure boots provide a final finishing touch!"

Jennifer Lopez Live Platinum Perfume

I have always lilke Jennifer Lopez's perfumes! Eversince her first one when it came with a jLo necklace. haha Who remember's that? It's a great smell at an affordable price! What could be better right? A lot of reviewers commented on how they love this smell. I mean you either hate or love it right? Live Platinum by Jennifer Lopez comes in a bottle exactly like Live Luxe. It is glass, simple, durable and potion like in shape. When you look at the bottle you would expect a genie to come out of it. Live Platinum is a very simple glass bottle with a silver neck and silver spray nozzle. The spray nozzle cover is a see through glass pop off top. This scent radiates summer, fun and florals. The fragrance is generally clear but has the slightest hint of yellow to it. "Introduced in 2008, Live Platinum perfume has hints of ruby grapefruit, plum, orange blossom, marzipan and Christmas rose. It also has bottom notes of vanilla musk, amber, heliotrope and white cedar wood. This fragrance has moderate scent strength and is perfect for casual outings."

Anya’s Garden StarFlower

I thought that this was pretty cool how the flower was edible. I think that companies should definitely put out their products in a different way in order to sell it. Just to let you know that all the ingredients made in this perfume was all edible. I know forsurely that you can't eat the actual perfume, but at least the flower is edible! haha The tuberose flower, sweetly and narcotically scented, comes from Mexico. It is used in Mexican cuisine, weaving its floral magic in desserts. StarFlower Perfume and EdP is my homage to tuberose and the stellar fragrance beauties that also come from Mexico, chocolate and vanilla. Their unctuous natures are cheerfully masked – briefly – by a bitter almond and lemon opening. Then the deep, dark, sensual Mexican “perfume mole” unfolds on your skin, silky, smooth, seamless, a symphony of floral and foodie delights.

Kat Von D Sinner & Saint

I think that it's really cute how a girl can be such a bad ass with her tattoos and still look so attractive to someone! I never knew that she made her own fragrance. This is a great way to start off her new profound career. She's adding on to her fame that she already has. It's crazy how her first tattoo was when she was 14 years old. She presents two perfumes named Sinner and Saint in 2009. The fragrances have the same flacons coloured in red and white, with a tattoo piece on the neck of the flacon and with a beautiful stopper. Sinner is created of refreshing notes such as mandarin, orange blossom and plum, which is in charge of provocative nuances. A heart incorporates jasmine essences accompanied with white flowers and cinnamon, while a base offers a mysterious blend of vetiver, patchouli and wood surrounded with vanilla and musk.

Armani Privé Bois d’Encens

I actually love all of Armani's colognes on a guy. I think that this particular scent is really great and besides that, I really love the story behind this specific cologne. The Armani sales person tells the same old “Creation Story” — how young Giorgio always went to church with his grandmother and loved the incense-infused services; Armani asked his perfumer to recreate the church-incense aroma with Bois d’Encens. Being susceptible to imagery, now, when I spray on Bois d’Encens, I imagine the too-tanned, white haired head of today’s 75-year-old Armani on a six-year-old boy’s body and see a classic Italian grandma, black dress and stockings, lace veil pinned to her head, pulling little Armani down a cathedral aisle, censers swinging and smoking all around them. I don’t like other people’s faces (and life stories or fantasies) intruding on my perfume experiences. I thought this was pretty cool considering the fact that I've never heard such a story behind a scent.

Shiseido..for men?

I practically grew up with Shiseido scent all over my house because that's my moms favorite company not just for perfume, but for everything! Face wash, soap, cleanser, anything made by them. My mom loved it even though it was expensive. Then I found this article about how there is a Shiseido fragrance for men? I decided to see the review for this, because I thought that I haven't been researching up on it. Look at this though, "Shiseido’s newest men’s fragrance is so exclusive that it can currently only be purchased at Shiseido boutiques throughout Japan and other licensed sellers (I’ll be buying mine at Carrefour). Though the men’s skincare line is now sold around the world, and the scent of the skincare line is very similar, this Eau de Toilette is mysteriously hard-to-find. I recently asked a Shiseido representative why the fragrance hasn’t been launched worldwide." isn't that crazy? I really do want to know why they don't sell it all over the US and only in one location.
So if anyone knows why comment me back! haha

How to Help a Friend Choose Perfume

I found this great article about tips and such on how to help a friend choose a perfume. At first, I thought that it was simple enough, give your friend some perfume samples from the department store and see which one she likes best? I thought that's how good it would get. Other than that, this article goes into great detail on how to help a friend. Maybe I could help myself out of this one as well. haha Usually she will tell me what she doesn’t like — patchouli, for instance, or powdery scents. Then, I ignore what she says. I am, however, careful to avoid these hot-button words when offering up fragrances to try. "Next, I do a silent appraisal of the friend asking my advice. Is she likely to become immersed in perfume, or does she simply want something nice to spray on for special occasions? If her only perfume is a dusty bottle of Issey Miyake Eau d’Issey, and it seems like she’d be content with an unfussy bottle or two of something new, then I do another assessment. Does she want a bottle to brag about, or could she not care less who makes her perfume?"

Paris Hilton Perfume (2004)

This is my new favorite perfume. I love it! I was on the way out with my sister for a night out and I was like wow.. her perfume smelled so so so good! She told me it was paris hilton and after that I was hooked. I went out to buy the whole pack. You know, the one that comes with the original bottle perfume, a mini size one, body wash, and hand lotion. I don't really use the body wash and hand lotion because it's a bit to glittery for me. Just the perfume. My boyfriend kept asking me what that smell was because he liked it also.
It's not necessary a very elegant scent. I wouldn't really recommend it if you're like going to a wedding or something. It's more of something playful. Like a day out with the girls or going to lunch or something. Like this guy describes it as; "The Tuberose scent when combined with Jasmine (aphrodisiac in aroma therapy), some sandalwood and some fruit flavors - Oh My!"

Dolce & Gabbana

I think that this is a wonderful smell! A true “can’t go wrong” fragrance. This will work on everyone, it’s very versatile (but not boring) and people around you love it. Take my word. Absolutely wonderful creation; a real modern classic. From 40 years of time this is one of the better remembered scents from the nineties.
Complex and deep scent which flows down nicely from the citrus notes at the top through the aromatic heart all the way down to flawlessly blended base of crisp tobacco and hay-like smelling coumarin. Masculine, timeless and totally captivating. Good lasting power with fine sillage. he presentation of this juice is also very good. The box is both nice to watch and hold in hand.

Hugo Boss

First off, I have to say that this bottle is very unique and easy to use. Boss have launched their summer edition of Boss in Motion - this year entitled White Edition. The fragrance is housed in the distinctive spherical bottle and contains notes of blood orange, cinnamon, saffron, black pepper and vetiver. Will Andrews, part of the Fragrance Creation Team at P&G Prestige recently gave a speech at the launch of the fragrance which he kindly shared with us. Here is part in which he tells us more about the design of the bottle, which has won several design awards

"If I open it up, you can see the metal shell has an injection-moulded technical chassis, the glass is a custom design, and the whole thing needs to be automatically assembled. It took many weeks of line trials and testing to get the whole mechanism operating efficiently."

Midnight POISON by Christian Dior

I finally had the chance to take a wiff of this bad boy at the department store. It was a very strong yet suttle smell. "Launched by the design house of Christian Dior in 1985, POISON is classified as a luxurious, oriental, floral fragrance. This feminine scent possesses a blend of amber, honey, berries, and other spices. It is recommended for romantic wear." Dior reinterpreting the legend of Cinderella, and mistress interpretation into ecstasy beauty charming stunner. Poisons series launched in 2007 the new Midnight Poison Midnight Poison female incense. Does Price Matter?

What if you love a scent so much that you are willing to pay a price for it? I would never spend over 75 dollars for a GOOD perfume. So we'll see. I've always wanted to know which brand of perfume are most expensive. Clive Christian's Imperial Majesty. The most costly smell in the world is created from 200 very rare ingredients and poured into the most expensive perfume bottles. Only ten bottles were designed from exclusive Baccarat crystal decorated with 18 carat gold and 5 carat white diamond.
The Imperial Majesty cost $215,000 for 16.90 ounces bottle and was available only for the Christmas holiday season of 2005. The only reason why Clive Christian's Imperial Majesty was so expensive was because of the bottle. Simple as that. I do think that presentation is important though.

Anna Sui

I remember that Anna Sui was actually selling her perfume line to Victoria's Secret. That was the very first time that I smelled her perfume. It was something that I have never smelled before. I was like sixteen at the time, but still. haha But she actually has more than just one perfume, there's a lot more to her name. It suprised me if you ask me. My personal favorite is Secret Wish (used to be sold at Victoria's Secret). I was pretty sad when they didn't sell it anymore. "Secret Wish by Anna Sui is a refreshing angelic scent for women. An amazing blend of of invigorating lemon, melon and apricot blends into a beautiful blend of pineapple, cedarwood, black currant and amber. Secret Wish is recommended for casual wear."

Brooklyn by Bond No. 9

When I first saw this bottle I was quite impressed by the creativity. I really liked the artwork on there. It really did feel like it was Brooklyn by just looking at it. The shape of the bottle is also unique. Brooklyn opens with grapefruit over cardamon with a juniper chaser for a fresh lightly aquatic wood feel. This freshness covers a light leather/wood base for a pretty good imitation of the smell of new car leather. The leather is a very light iris gaiac wood leather similar to the leather in Dior Homme but covered with the ctrus woods. Really there is not enough leather in here to claim leather, but you have to give a label to the dry softness in the middle of the citrus green and woods. A very clean fresh woodsy scent for summer.

Marc Jacobs' Daisy

Hmm I love this one, I waiting till I could actually get it. I don't want to get it if I already have so much other perfumes on my dresser -_- I have enough. But Marc Jacobs perfume is.. well... MARC JACOBS! haha Do I need to say more? Marc Jacobs name is obviously classy and fashionable. I wish I was rich enough to actually afford his other stuff. haha Marc Jacobs's new Daisy fragrance is meant to be “happy and youthful”, and “more accessible than the signature range” and “sophisticated but not too serious”. In other words, it's meant to bring younger consumers into the Marc Jacobs fold. I'm way past the target age range (said to be 18-24), but I was taken by that bottle right off the bat. It is way cute. I was worried that it would be way less cute when I saw the plastic daisies in person, but nope, it is maybe even more way cute in real life.

Vera Wang Rock Princess

I was very interested to read an article about Vera Wang. I have always wanted to buy her fragrance, but it was never a sure deal. I just thought that her motives were very unique how she goes with different themes. I really like the style of the bottle, but what matters is the scent inside the bottle. I'm hearing things about this fragrance that it is vanilla like? Hmm, maybe I'm wrong. But I'm sure that her scents are very tasteful. Here is a little insight of what this article said, "She’d trade her tiara in for a new guitar, attend a concert instead of the prom. Introducing Rock Princess, the daring new fragrance from Vera Wang. The fragrance is a dark, fruity floral with sultry attitude and modern style. It is edgy, but seductively sweet. Vera Wang Rock Princess – the music, the spirit, the new fragrance!" I love Vera Wangs motive on it, and It should be quite interesting to what we will see in the future.

Finding the Right Men's Cologne

I always tried figuring out what men's cologne I would love the most. It was hard to figure out since I never really sniff men in general. haha But it took some time to find out what I liked the most. I am in love with Armani Cologne! haha It's a great cologne that men should wear basically all the time. When I first smelled it, it was infatuation! haha just kidding. haha Here's a little insight on the article that I found: "What mens cologne do you wear? Many men have a specific type of cologne that they loved to wear. Perhaps it is because the ladies in their lives love that cologne’s fragrance. Or, it could be that they enjoy the cologne. In any case, having cologne that is all about the man that you are is essential. Having one type of cologne that you wear can help to fill the memory with images of you. Did you know that the scent of something, including cologne will linger longer in our memories then a picture or image? What does your man bring to mind?"

Tips for Shopping for Perfume

I thought that this would be a very handy way of finding the right perfume for just about anyone. I found this article about how to find one that works for you. I thought that it would just be customers who basically tried on the perfume and that's about it. But I guess this article clarifies more than just that! haha Here's a little example of what this article wrote. Don't worry! I'll have the link at the bottom so you guys could read it! "You don't have to decide whether you like the perfume or not right after trying them out. The scent is always very strong when applied; it usually wears out after more than 10 minutes and then you can feel the real smell. This period of time is also needed for fragrance to react with your skin. Give yourself a little time to decide. If you're not sure what perfume you really want to have, it's ok to try several types and brands. However, you should avoid spraying more than three different perfumes at a time. If you try out too many scents they will confuse your smell and you won't be able to recognize the difference between them."

Perfumania

I see this store literally everywhere, but I have not stepped into it at least once in my life. I feel like this is for christmas gifts or something. I mean for me, I usually buy my fragrances at department stores like Macy's or Nordstrom. Perfumania has been out and about though, I look on their website, and they have a lot of great designer perfumes that are actually cheaper than thir leading competition (department stores) This is a great store, I thought it was nothing but cheap "not" well known perfumes. It's actually quite the opposite. They sure fooled me! (= Not only do they have that they actually sell cosmetics. I don't think that they have much options, I'm just thinking the make up that they sell is all gift sets. Of course I'm just assuming, from my perspective.

Viva La Juicy

Ok Ok, I said that I've been wearing Ralph Lauren. I still do. On the other hand, I just recently had a good swiff of my best friend's new perfume: Viva La Juicy. hmm That was almost as good as my Ralph Lauren. I'm to experience a lot with different kinds of fragrances since my company will start to sell fragrances. I think it's a really good NEW & improved perfume that no one will expect from Juicy Couture. "Viva La Juicy Perfume by Juicy Couture, From the designing duo that turned a velour track suit into a fashion statement, this gourmand/fruity/floral fragrance is just the scent for trendy women. Top notes of wild berries and juicy mandarin met a floral heart of honeysuckle, gardenia and jasmine, while the base notes are yummy gourmand notes of amber, caramel, vanilla, sandalwood and pralines. All products are original, authentic name brands. We do not sell knockoffs or imitations."

Ralph Lauren Perfume

I never really liked perfume as I was growing up. Then I found one that I just completely stuck with. It was Ralph Lauren's perfume. I'm not sure what it's called but it was in a blue bottle. I've been using Ralph Lauren's perfume for about 2 years! It's great. (= I also like the fact that it is very affordable for an average person. "Ralph Lauren''s range of perfumes are available in a variety of fragrances because the world is full of a wide variety of women. You could never encompass all the moods, emotions and situations a woman could find herself in with just one perfume scent. Ralph has attempted to capture all these moods in his vast range with fragrance like Glamorous, Glamorous Daylight, Lauren, Romance, Polo Sport, Turquoise, Cool, Ralph Rocks, Hot and Safari. Notice how there seems to be something for everyone, something to suit your every mood and own personal body chemistry. "
